Repair steps

  1. Inspect the hinge

Check that the hinge and frame are intact and the screw is present. Do not try this on a bent, cracked, or missing hinge screw.

  2. Support the frame

Work over a clear, well-lit surface and support the frame so the lens and hinge are not twisted. Keep the tiny screw away from children and pets.

  3. Use the matching screwdriver

Use a precision screwdriver that fits the screw head exactly. Turn gently clockwise only until snug; stop if the tool slips or the screw resists.

  4. Check the arm movement

Open and close the arm slowly. If the hinge still moves, the screw will not hold, or the frame is damaged, take the glasses to an optician.
