Repair steps
Lock the blades closed
Engage the blade lock and place the shears on a stable surface with the cutting edge pointed away from you.

Wipe away residue
Wear work gloves and wipe plant residue from the outside of the closed blades with a damp cloth; do not reach between them.

Dry the tool
Dry the tool fully, then apply a small drop of tool oil to the pivot only if the manufacturer allows it.

Check the hinge
Open and close the handles slowly to check movement. Stop using the shears if a blade is cracked, loose, or no longer locks safely.
