Broken bike pedal
A broken bike pedal can typically be replaced with a new pedal. The repair involves removing the damaged pedal using a pedal wrench or hex key and installing a compatible replacement pedal by screwing it onto the crank arm, observing the correct threading direction for each side.
Every step has an illustration. Follow the written instructions and safety notes as your guide.

Repair steps
Remove the broken pedal
Position the bike securely. Use the pedal wrench or hex key to turn the pedal spindle counterclockwise on the right side and clockwise on the left side to loosen and remove the broken pedal.

Prepare the replacement pedal
Apply a thin layer of grease to the threads of the new pedal to make installation easier and prevent seizing.

Install the new pedal
Screw the new pedal onto the crank arm with the correct threading: right pedal clockwise, left pedal counterclockwise. Tighten firmly but avoid overtightening.
