Align a rubbing bike mudguard

Stop a loose mudguard from brushing the tyre while keeping clear of the brakes.

Repair steps

  1. Step 1

    Steady the bike and spin the wheel by hand to find where the mudguard rubs.

  2. Step 2

    Check the stays and mounting bolts; loosen only the fastener that lets the mudguard move.

  3. Step 3

    Reposition the mudguard evenly around the tyre, keeping it clear of the tyre, wheel, and brake.

  4. Step 4

    Retighten the fastener and spin the wheel again. Stop if the wheel or brake is affected.
