Replace lock-on bike handlebar grips

Swap a worn pair of lock-on grips without disturbing the brake or gear controls.

Take it one step at a time

Repair steps

  1. Step 1

    Confirm the grips use lock rings and choose replacements that match the handlebar diameter.

  2. Step 2

    Loosen the grip end rings with the correct hex key and slide the old grips straight off.

  3. Step 3

    Slide each new grip fully onto the bar, leaving the brake levers and shifters in their original position.

  4. Step 4

    Tighten the lock rings to the maker’s instructions, then twist each grip firmly to check that it cannot move.
